A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE COLUMBUS HIGH SCHOOL FALCONS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1998-1999 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Columbus High School Falcons Basketball Team finished the 1998-1999 season with an outstanding record of 25 wins and only five losses, winning the District Championship; and

WHEREAS, throughout the Falcons' season, they won several tournaments, including the Saltillo Tournament, the District Tournament and they advanced to the North State Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Falcons have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Sammy Smith and Assistant Coach Paul Ahlrich, who have broadened the players knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon the players, including: the naming of Thomas Adams to the All-District Team, the Aberdeen All-Tournament Team and the All-Star Team; the selection of Dennis Dupree to the All-District Team and the Aberdeen All-Tournament Team; and the naming of Cadarral Eddings to the All-District Team and the Aberdeen All-Tournament Team; and

WHEREAS, the Falcons have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Columbus High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Columbus High School Falcons Basketball Team and Head Coach Sammy Smith and Assistant Coach Paul Ahlrich for their outstanding 1998-1999 season, for winning the District Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished Columbus High School, Head Coach Sammy Smith and Assistant Coach Paul Ahlrich and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
